A hearty breakfast and a hot cup of coffee are the perfect combination to start off a crisp fall morning.  That’s why we’re honoring breakfast all month and holding our 2009 Best Breakfast in Long Beach contest from now through the end of November.

We want to hear from you, your friends, your mom, your boss, and anybody else you know that has an opinion about where to find the best eggs, potatoes, bacon or bagels in Long Beach, so please pass this link on to all pertinent people.

The breakfast spot that garners the most votes will be the site of LB Food Review’s very first Breakfast Raid the first weekend in December, and we hope to see you all there!

Simply leave a comment below beginning with the restaurant name, then feel free to let us know your favorite dish and anything else that explains why this is the Best Breakfast in LB.

We look forward to seeing what you have to say.  Let’s enjoy November with some great food, friends, and fall weather!

This one is easy. The Weasel at Chucks Coffee Shop on Ocean and the omelets and schooners from Schooner or Later are the BEST breakfasts in Long Beach.

The Potholder Café. I love the Grand Prix omelette with Super Spuds. Avocado on everything is my idea of a perfect breakfast. Throw in a cup of coffee, some crazy servers, and 30 years worth of “Eat at the Potholder” vacation photos and this is the best place in Long Beach to kickstart my day, Monday through Sunday.

Id have to say the best breakfast Ive had in Long Beach would have to be Schooner or Later’s “Mess.” Add chili and avocado and youre golden! Doesnt hurt too have a bloody mary on the side, even if its breakfast.

The Starling Diner on 3rd and Belmont…Delicious fresh food and homemade scones, a little Euro flair, and mostly if you’re feeling a bit swanky and not-hungover-craving-bacon-grease-fat-chorizo-etc.

Babe’s on Wardlow Road, Ham Steak & Eggs, “pots crisp”, homemade toast. Babe’s Ham steak is as thick as a Mexican beefsteak and spills over the plate, George is always spot on with his eggs, and his hash browns are the best in the city – Burgers are great too, and you can get hashbrowns with them as well.

MMM, making me hungry just thinking about it.

I have to agree with Ted. Babes is amazing. The ham steak and eggs is the best in town. There home made toast is so good, not to mention that all the Jams are made fresh including Strawberry Rhubarb, pineapple strawberry, blackberry….etc. If you have never been in there give it a go and I am sure that you will agree.

I have been introduced to The Small Cafe. Its in Naples by the Rite Aid on 2nd St. Amazing omelets and an HDTV above the counter. The place is small with delicious food and fast service. I highly recommend it.

Where to begin? There are so many. I love the Corned Beef at Small Cafe, the Jalapeño Omelette at River’s End, the Huevos Rancheros at Los Compadres…but nothing, absolutely nothing, compares to The Coffee Cup Cafe. It’s all about Sal’s Enchilada Eggs. Bring it!!!

212 Bistro on 4th/Ohio has great specials for brunch. Make sure you try “The Bistro” Omelette.

Eggs Etc is not bad either, esp their Pancakes w/ fruit and granola…

The Bake and Broil off Atlantic. If you haven’t been, you’re missing out; and once you go, you’ll never want to eat anywhere else! It’s like eating at your grandmother’s in her really cute dining room.

ps I don’t know why people love the Coffee Cup; everything there tastes like cardboard.

The Spanish Tortilla (Potato, egg, red pepper bake) at The Crema Cafe on Pine is a quick and tasty morning treat.

    Best budget breakfast: Donut (60 cents)+ coffee (40 cents)= $1 at Pat’s on the corner of 9th & Daisy.

Rick and Brian’s Cafe, Redondo, off Seventh. Inexpensive food, great service, and the staff is wonderful. You can get anything from a really simple breakfast to an elaborate one. I get the build your own breakfast, but my husband likes the chicken fried steak and eggs.
Their menu has many of the same things as other restaurants do only it costs from $2.00 to $4.00 less.
